Scrutiny Arrangements with the Local Government.
Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP Joint Scrutiny Committee
The Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP Joint Scrutiny Committee are comprised of nine Councillors from local authorities which are within the Greater Birmingham and Solihull boundary.
The local authorities are:
- Birmingham City Council
- Bromsgrove District Council
- Cannock Chase District Council
- East Staffordshire Borough Council
- Lichfield District Council
- Redditch Borough Council
- Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council
- Tamworth Borough Council
- Wyre Forest District Council
Councillors are elected annually by their respective Council’s to serve on the Joint Scrutiny Committee.
The Committee has responsibility for providing independent scrutiny of the activities of the GBSLEP, specifically in relation to the effectiveness and implementation of the Strategic Economic Plan. Other areas of LEP activity have been identified for scrutiny and are detailed in the Joint Scrutiny Committee’s work programme.
Terms of Reference
The Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP Joint Scrutiny Committee works to agreed Terms of Reference, which set out the scope of the committee’s remit and activities. They also provide guidance for some governance arrangements and are reviewed annually by the committee to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
