Value of Project: £16.254 million

Overview

The Hoobrook Link Road is situated within the South Kidderminster Enterprise Park. Existing traffic congestion is a barrier to economic growth in the immediate and wider Kidderminster area.

The new road provides a vital link to the strategic highway network from the A451 Stourport Road through to the A442 Worcester Road. The scheme includes the construction of a bridge across the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal and River Stour. The bridge has been designed to be sympathetic to the visual setting of the canal corridor, which is a designated conservation area.

The now completed link road provides improved access, connecting two key employment corridors, promoting much needed economic growth and relieving traffic congestion. The road will facilitate the regeneration of an existing industrial estate as well as relieving congestion on the existing transport network and releasing further economic growth within the wider Wyre Forest area. Worth a total project value of £16.254 million, the expansion was made possible by a £4.8 million contribution from the GBSLEP secured via its Local Growth Fund.

Cllr Marcus Hart, Leader for Wyre Forest District Council, said:

"The completion of the link road is great news for the local area and will contribute to the continued regeneration of the Wyre Forest district. The road has also provided access to land which has enabled the construction of the recently opened leisure centre and a number of new homes."
