Annual Conference 2021

In November 2021, many partners and businesses joined us as we celebrated 10 years of GBSLEP driving inclusive growth across the region. After last year's virtual event, we were delighted to bring everyone together at the the stunning B:Music event space. It was even more special given that GBSLEP had part-funded the renovated venue through a £6 million grant. After a brilliant performance from Black Voices, everyone enjoyed a packed conference agenda with lively panels, keynote speakers and the launch of GBSLEP's new £1.2 million Clean Growth Programme.

There were inspiring speeches from Scarlett Allen-Horton, a finalist of BBC’s The Apprentice and Founder of Harper Fox Partners and Shaun Sookoo, founder of Winny’s Kitchen and star of Channel 4’s The Money Maker.

We also said goodbye to our outgoing chair Tim Pile and formally welcomed our interim chair Anita Bhalla.

It was great to look back and see the progress that the GBSLEP has made in supporting economic growth, from creating jobs to helping our SMEs to grow. We will have invested £1.8 billion into the regional economy by 2045 and for every £1 invested we will have leveraged £3 in public and private investment - quite an achievement!

This was also highlighted in our Annual Report which can viewed online here.  However, we didn't only look back, the conference was very much about the future and how LEPs like GBSLEP will continue to serve and help improve the quality of life of our communities.
