Deputy Leader (Enterprise), East Staffordshire Borough Council
Cllr Ackroyd was born in Preston, graduating from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, with honours in Politics and Geography, followed by a P.G.DipEd., teaching in Derby, Redditch and Burton upon Trent, moving here in 1983.
In 1992, Cllr Ackroyd changed career, completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Law and another in Legal Practice. She joined a firm of independent financial advisers and left in 2000 to set up her own firm, retiring in 2011.
In 2007, Cllr Ackroyd was elected for Branston ward in East Staffordshire Borough Council. She has held a number of positions, including Chair of Licensing and became a deputy leader in 2013, currently being Deputy Leader for Housing and Homelessness.
My current interests include chairing an almshouse committee and being a governor at a local high school and a member of Soroptimist International.
