Further Education representative
John was appointed as the Principal of Solihull College & University Centre in June 2014. He started his career with the Environmental Health Department at Birmingham City Council in 1977 and trained as a software specialist. He joined Tamworth & Lichfield College in 1988 and worked as Vice Principal and was seconded part time to the Learning and Skill Council to assist on the assurance regime for further education colleges. He then moved to Derby College in 2004 where he was Vice Principal and left to work for RSM Tenon & KPMG. He re-joined Derby College in 2006 as Deputy Principal before joining North East Worcestershire College in 2010 as Principal.
John was born in Birmingham and later moved to Solihull where his three children went to school. His daughter graduated from university as an occupational therapist and his two sons completed their advanced apprenticeships and work now in the construction industry.
He has been previously appointed as President of the Solihull Chamber of Commerce and is an ambassador for UK Central and serves on a skills taskforce for the WMCA. He was the nominated as the FE Principals representative for the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership Employment and Skills Board and is also a member of the Employment and Skills Board for Solihull.
