Kickstart is coming to an end - what next?

01 Oct 2021

With the Kickstart Scheme coming to an end, there are many other skills solutions that employers can look into, such as work experience, traineeships or apprenticeships.

Traineeships are skills development programmes that have a work experience element. Employers can use these to create a pipeline of employees for a recruitment solution. Usually lasting between 6 weeks to 6 months and working with a Training Provider, this is a great solution for those wanting to introduce young people to the workforce. Talk to the GBSLEP Skills Team for more information and support on Traineeships, or view our recent Traineeships webinar for employers.

Apprenticeships are for work-ready individuals. This could be the ideal solution for employers' recruitment needs. An apprentice is a full-time employee, gaining valuable hands-on training in the workplace and valuable skills as part of their off-the-job training. Talk to the GBSLEP Apprenticeships Team for tailored support, or view our recent Apprenticeships webinar for employers.

T Levels

T Levels are new courses that follow GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A levels. These 2-year courses, which launched September 2020, have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work, further training or study. T Levels offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days). Speak to the GBSLEP Skills team to find out how creating a T Level placement could benefit your company, or view our recent T-Levels webinar for employers.
