Meet Helen Harper, Growth Support Team Leader for GBSLEP

Tell us about your job, and what your current focus is:

I support the LEP Director with her diary and other tasks that come my way as part of the role.  I also provide support to the LEP Board and this has included sourcing suitable meeting spaces for Board meetings this year within the GBSLEP region.

What are you most proud of achieving at the LEP?

Longevity! As apart from Katie Trout, the Director I am the longest standing member of the team.

What upcoming event or project in the region are you most looking forward to?

The completion of Paradise, working here at Baskerville house throughout the changes to the road layout seeing the demolition of Central Library and new buildings go up it’s been really exciting.

What made you want to move to the region, or what made you stay?

I lived in Erdington in Birmingham as a child and only live about 3 miles from there now. I thought about moving away but Birmingham and the Midlands is a great place to be and easy to travel out from.

What would be your “specialist subject” on Mastermind?

Springer spaniels and their crazy ways.

If you were stuck in a lift with two people, who would you want them to be?

Sting for a sing song and Miranda Hart for fun.

Describe life at the LEP in one word:

Buzzing.
